Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-05-06
GitRace is a personal hobby project provided free of charge and as-is. By using the site you agree to the points below. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Acceptable use
- Don't submit names that are profane, harassing, or that impersonate another person. Names are filtered server-side; entries that fail the filter are replaced with an anonymous label.
- Don't try to circumvent the rate limits, plausibility checks, or App Check. Submissions that look fabricated are dropped and logged.
- Don't scrape the site or hammer the API beyond normal play. The site enforces 10 score submissions and 60 repo lookups per hour per client.
- Don't submit a custom track for a private repo or one you don't have permission to surface publicly. Only public GitHub repos are fetched.
Content moderation
GitRace reserves the right to remove any leaderboard entry, custom-track slug, or other user-submitted content for any reason, including but not limited to violations of the rules above. Removal is at the operator's sole discretion.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" with no warranty of any kind. Leaderboards may be reset, the site may be taken down, scores may be lost, and bugs may exist. Don't rely on GitRace for anything that matters.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, including loss of data, lost time, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Repository data
GitRace fetches metadata (file tree, file sizes, default branch) from public GitHub repositories via the public GitHub REST API. The site does not republish source code; it uses the file structure to seed a deterministic level. Repository owners who want their repo removed from the curated track list can email a takedown request.
Changes
These terms can change without notice. The current version is what applies; meaningful changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
